A Message from Founder Stephanie Atwood…

M.A. Certified Health, Nutrition Coach & Trainer

Welcome to Go WOW Team and Go WOW Living

What is Go WOW?

Go WOW Team and now Go WOW Living are the real live iterations of my dream to bring fitness, food, and friendship to all women. Go WOW now encompasses these three essential elements in making life complete and satisfying. Thanks for joining me! Stephanie Atwood

The elements we need for whole health:

o    Real food that makes us content in our bodies, including how our body looks and how we nourish ourselves to stay healthy and  functional

o    Enough motivation and guidance to stick with regular activity and the challenges of everyday life

o    Community, a sense of belonging, and positive social interaction

In theory, we can do all of these things by ourselves. Or at least we can try. But will we?

o    Do we know enough about nutrition to eat well, lose weight, and make our bodies function properly?

o    Are we able to train on our own and create the results that we want to accomplish?

o    Do we have enough support in the people around us already that another “tribe” is not needed?

o    Do we have the discipline to follow through independently?

If you answered YES to all the above, you may not need Go WOW.

However, if you enjoy great company, EVEN if you’ve got all the pieces together, you might still want to give us a try. We’re awesome! Whether your connection is through the internet as an online “regular”, or you’ve joined one of our local neighborhood groups to share in our workout activities, you are welcome and encouraged to join our international tribe for the camaraderie and great feeling of being part of something wonderful.

Go WOW is for all women – all ages, abilities, sizes, shapes, and backgrounds. If you are a woman who realizes how important food, movement, and community are to creating a balance in life, join us! Today is THE DAY. Go WOW is THE GROUP.

I’m dedicated to bringing women a lifestyle of wellness through nutrition, movement, inspiration and group support. I’m so glad you’re here!

YOU are why Go WOW Living exists.

Go WOW Living is about contented, healthy living — lifelong wellness, fitness and community. Exercise, nutrition and balance for women like YOU is why I started Go WOW Living. We’re here for you and every woman who asks: how can fitness and healthy eating be a part of my life? What do I need in order to feel balanced and fulfilled? What can I do right now to start making positive changes in my life?Go WOW Living offers solutions to those questions.

Two passions, one focus: health, the empowerment of women: supporting you.

What are some of the best ingredients you’d want in a coach? Nutritionist, personal trainer, award-winning author, certified run and health coach – I’m ready to take the best of all I’ve learned in the industry and help women build new foundations for lasting change. Go WOW Living was made to be our halfway meeting point. I’ll meet you where you are, and we’ll make a commitment together to make wellness an easy and integrated part of your life.

“Movement and I go together — it will be that way as long as I live”.

I’ve seen the impact my books and nutrition series have had on the women in my own community. That’s why I’ve designed a program that I know will not only get you moving, but will help you burn fat and integrate whole-body health practices into every day.

Couch-to-Accomplished is our unique program that will provide you with the process, tools and guidance you need to make this change real! How is it different from the promise of hundreds of other die-on-the-vine programs? It’s different because I’ll be with you each step of the way to help you with your progress, and encourage you to stay on track. Find out how the program meets you at your level by using a customized formula for success.

I’m also the founder and head coach of the women’s running and walking group in the greater Bay Area called Go WOW Team – Fit Women of the World, launched in 2006. Go WOW Team is currently 2,000 women strong and counting, and continuously voted the BEST Bay Area Run Club.

There’s no better promoter of health than the outdoors

Too often we think the gym membership left over from New Year’s is the only method that will work – but how often have you gone this month?

My training and teaching experience span several decades, and I’ve worked, volunteered, and competed in fitness-related programs and events throughout the world. Prior to Go WOW Living, I experienced amazing exposure to our natural resources with my work as a senior instructor for Outward Bound. I also organized and guided local and international programs for the Sierra Club, the University of California, Mt. Travel/Sobek, Wilderness Travel and more.

I continued this experience with my own eco-adventure company, quickly discovering that the value of connecting to the outdoors is a commitment to health I need to share.

Each day we take a step outside to our cars, our jobs or the store. What would happen if you took a few steps more?

What you’d uncover is one of the key benefits to you and healthy living. With certifications as a fitness coach, personal trainer, and sports focused nutrition consultant, I can help you connect with this resource that is just outside your door, and that will serve you daily.

I received my training as a Health and Nutrition Coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition’s cutting-edge training program. During my training, I studied over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s top health and wellness experts.

I hold additional coaching certifications in running with United States Track and Field (USATF Level 2) and Road Runners Club of America (RRCA), am a sports nutrition specialist, and trained with National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) as a personal trainer.

My education has equipped me with extensive knowledge in holistic nutrition, health coaching, and preventive health.

Drawing on these skills and my knowledge of different dietary theories, I work with clients to help them make lifestyle changes that produce real and lasting results. I’ve published 4 books about fitness. Belly Fat Blowout is a national Best Seller about the fat burning process that enables athletes to utilize more of our own stores of body fat for energy and carbohydrate conservation. The Kindle version has been downloaded more than 10,000 times! All of my books are available for purchase here.

Some additional facts:

  • I hold an MA in Communications and a BA in Experiential Education
  • I regularly compete as a Master’s Runner and often place in the top 3 in my age division
  • I’ve survived breast cancer
  • I was a team member of the 1976 Women’s American Himalayan Expedition – officially sanctioned climbing team
  • Former X-C ski racer
  • I qualified for the Boston Marathon, first in 1978 and recently in 2011

I hope you enjoy perusing the site and that you find a multitude of ways to get involved in Go WOW.

To Fitness, Friendship, and Fun!
